The brand new Musway 8-channel DSP power amplifier, the D8v4, not only brings a breath of fresh air to the world of Class D amplifiers with DSP, but also sets new standards in the “extremely compact” category. Externally, it looks similar to the previous model, but a lot has changed under the hood: Musway engineers have made the seemingly impossible possible and increased the performance by a whopping 40% – without increasing the size of the heat sink. This is made possible by state-of-the-art Infineon® power chips, which not only deliver more power, but also work significantly more energy efficiently.

With dimensions of just 127 x 207 mm and the remarkable performance of 8 x 100 watts RMS at 2 ohms, the Musway is one of the world’s most compact 8-channel DSP power amplifiers in the 100 watt per channel class. Musway itself remains pleasingly conservative when it comes to specifying the power: In the test report in Car & Hifi 02/2025, the test laboratory determined significantly more power – in the end, the protocol showed 8 x 82 watts at 4 and even 8 x 142 watts at 2 ohms.

The D8v4 is a different caliber not only in terms of power, but also in comparison to conventional plug+play power amplifiers: On the input side, it has an impressive eight high-level channels with EPS that can handle up to 18 volts at the input. The heart of the D8, of course, remains the integrated 10-channel DSP, which is extremely versatile. The DSP also has two additional outputs that can be integrated for connecting external amplifiers, e.g. for driving subwoofers. The external amplifier can then also be operated via a PC or via a smartphone app using an optional Bluetooth dongle.

Musway multi-channel amplifiers use innovative “Dynamic Headroom” (DHR) technology to achieve higher maximum RMS output power in multi-channel applications. This technology shows its strengths above all when not all channels require full power over the entire frequency spectrum at the same time. In active operation, the DHR technology enables the channels that are responsible for the tweeter or midrange to have an even higher dynamic impulse output, from which the entire audio system benefits. Thus, the Musway multi-channel amplifiers with DHR offer an effective and dynamic power reserve that is not available in amplifiers with only one or two channels.
